Power Point File
Attached photos show a U.S. Army Bell OH-58D Combat Scout from the war in Iraq.  Needless to say, they got into a little hostile territory. This helicopter took hundreds of rounds and yet returned its crew back to base.  Hits included direct hits into the engine, transmission, control systems, avionics, flight computers, and both the main and tail rotor.  The 2-man crew sustained multiple injuries, but survived.  Admittedly they were extremely fortunate on the hits to their Main Rotor Lateral Control Rod.  But one thing's for sure, the OH-58D is built to take a lickin’ ‘n keep on tickin' -- otherwise, this ship's crew would never have made it back in one piece!
